Cosmo Vitelli - Clean
At times I find myself wondering whether Clean is something other than what I at first perceived it to be, namely a collection of sweet sounding synth pop. Listen closer and the sweet turns sickly and synth pop becomes a more noir representation of what synth pop may have ultimately become.
Clues as to this hidden vista of imagery and alternate meanings are most rife in a song about a robot boy having a hard time coming to terms with being forced to live, and love, forever.
The subject matter on its own is relatively benign but add it to a scrumptiously sticky sweet soundtrack, the kind Cosmo Vitelli seems to be able to pull out of the bag without a second thought, and you have a contender for an electronicmusic.com all time favourite.
