DeeJay Punk-Roc - Chicken Eye
This album may very well mark the point at which the common or garden "DJ" ceases to merely "spin" vinyl, and instead begins to construct music that, for all intents and purposes, contains enough individual elements to qualify for consideration as being truly original.
I'm more than aware that all music, to varying degrees, is about making something new from something not quite so new (specially when it comes to "pop" music, and especially when DJ's are involved), but DeeJay Punk-Roc and Don Sergic throw so much into the mix that the line between borrowed and new simply ceases to exist.
Chicken Eye, therefore, is packed with lots of good and wholesome new stuff. The World Is My Ashtray, for example, has all the panache of some electrified Brazilian lounger, and then Bang - straight into My Beatbox, a dance track headed with a looped Shaft sample that gives way to a Daft Punkuesque disco groover.
Now that's good eatin'.
