The Bowling Green - One Pound Note
From the opening statement, Urksome Melody, with it's super low-fi disco groove, to the might and electro majesty of People Like To Rock'n'Roll, the lucky listener is taken on a virtual ride through an audio scenes cape that goes to those dark and mysterious places that dance driven artists rarely go.<
With sound effects and samples, loops, sound bytes and plain old fashioned winning riffs, Mike Westmoreland> takes full control of his medium and pieces together the bewildering quantities of raw material into a thing worthy of our highest praises.
Back in the nineteen eighties I remember reading something about Mike and The Bowling Green. I even noticed on the bio that he attended the very same art college in Leeds, England, that I did, but this is the first time I've heard the music.
So expect to hear jazz, disco, mutant and tomorrow's new sounds, all mixed up like never before, and thank the sheer will to make great music for this truly fab release.
